The Compilement of Memories
Overflowing With Baseball
(Colored Pencil) Artist Statement: Playing baseball has been a large part of my life. I started playing baseball when I was in 3rd grade. Since then, I have loved the sport of baseball. To me, these pictures represent all of the good times and memories I had while playing and watching baseball. These images help me to look back and appreciate the time I spent involved with the sport. While taking this photo, I found it challenging to find a background that was big enough to go behind the objects that also looked visually pleasing. In the end, I decided to go with large black tarp and some black construction paper. One triumph I felt I had while taking these photos was finding a good background that worked. One drawback I had was my difficulty to come up with creative and good photo ideas. The Organization of the Beach
Circle of Shells
(Fresco) Artist Statement: When I was younger, I used tp go to the beach all of the time. My family and I would travel about three hours up North to lake Michigan and then stay at a little cottage by the beach. We would look for shells and bones. We would find some of the most interesting and cool shells. These pictures remind me of the times when I used to have a more simple and natural mindset towards the world. They tempt me to think in that natural state once more. One triumph I had while taking these photos was that it was quite easy to come up with interesting designs with the diversity of shells. One drawback I had was trying to shoot good photos while also using the shadows(it was tough). |

Weaponry of the Silver Prince
(Palette Knife) Artist Statement: Of course, silverware is extremely useful to everyone. To me especially. I used to be slightly germaphobic. I would wash my hands after anything I did. If I touched a table, after I red a book, after I sat down on a couch, etc. However, the cleanliness of silverware was fine. I wouldn't mind using silverware, and it would prevent me from having to wash my hands so often. These pictures make me reminiscent of the time I used to be so germaphobic, and help me realize how much I have "evolved" to be better. One triumph I had while taking these photos was that I could balance the silverware in different ways that made the pictures look extremely interesting and creative. One drawback I had while taking these photos was getting around the shadows in the image(I couldn't get around them very well. The Past of Christmas
Family and Angles
(Rough Pastels) Artist Statement: In the past, I would go to my grandmas house quite often(every Tuesday). She would plan different activities every week for us to participate and engage in. Weather it be board games, arts and crafts, cooking, etc. but during every Christmas, we would make cookies. My sister and I would fight over the different cookie cutters and who got to use them first. My favorite, was the ginger bread man. I would love making gingerbread men. At the time, I had no idea how bad I was doing at making them, I was entirely focused on how fun and enjoyable it was to make them. These images make me look forward to this Christmas. When I can both make, and eat the cookies. One triumph I had while taking these photos was that I discovered the interesting way that the light bounced off of the cookie cutters. One drawback I had was the trouble I had coming up with different set ups for the cookie cutters. Failed Ideas
Lecture Notes
(Underpainting) Artist Statement: When I started seventh grade, I started taking notes. In the past, I never had any need to take notes. I had always just gotten by with my memory. Then, I started science class. When I started science class, I realized just how necessary note taking is. Everyday we would constantly be taking notes, I missed quite a bit of information due to my lack of writing speed. My hand would constantly cramp up and I would be frustrated. Overtime, I grew accustomed to taking notes. Not just in science, but in math, history, geography and English class too. These photos make me remember those challenges and triumphs that I had during my middle school years. One triumph I had while taking these photos was that I found a good table to take the photos on. One challenge I had was finding areas of the table that had nothing on it(due to the messiness of our house). |
